Dilemma, After Waste Segregation: So What Happens Next?

Dilemma, After Waste Segregation:  So What Happens Next?
               “The things we consider as “Just a Trash” would serve new purpose in our life. “                                                                                                            --- Jessa Mae. E. Caceres

Now that Kiling NHS, has been implementing discipline towards Proper Waste Disposal, upon which, Segregation of Biodegradable
(Nabubulok) and Non-biodegradable (Di nabubulok) has been adopted, thanks to the persuasion of Michell T. Acala, my classmate and a co-Taggger Finalist, her idea of starting to have a greener and healthier school surroundings, is paying off, but Waste Segregation and Proper Waste Disposal are two different stories.

So now, what happens next after Waste Segregation? I, Jessa Mae E. Caceres, conducted some interviews within the KNHS School Campus to provide wide ranged answers to this dilemma.

Among the interviewed respondents were the SSG Officials, Mardaveth Eloizza R. Mendoza, KNHS-SSG President, and Alexis Rey A. Albos, KNHS-SSG Treasurer,

suggested that we will utilize the existing trash to use, they said that, we may use the Biodegradable Waste (Nabubulok) as our “Pataba” or Fertilizers during our Agriculture Subject with Sir Noel O. Ladrera.

Then another KNHS III- Saturn Student, Cherry B. Ripalda, also suggested that we could utilize the dried fallen branches as firewood or “panggatong or sungo”, in our dialect   during our T.L.E. Cooking Demo for them not to buy “uring” charcoal.

Then so, the Non- biodegradable (Di Nabubulok) would be collected and be recycled.

Several Recycling Ideas coming from the students were pouring in such as,   things we can do with;

These Plastic Bottles, this may be used as Coin Bank in the classrooms for penalties where in students who comes in late and/ or without IDs or a student who comes in not in complete uniform would be penalized, One Peso per offense and the saved on that recycled bottle and if fund would be enough in buying classroom needs such as, Floorwax, Softbroom, Coconut husks and others. Another idea is we could use these plastic bottles as Penholders or chalk containers and others.

With just a little creativity, Recycling is just simply easy, by just taking something not useful anymore and making it new and useful, giving it a little innovation, the things we considered as “Just a Trash” would serve new purpose in our life.
